The federal government is proceeding with school building and renovation projects in five northern First Nations communities. Improvements are being done to two school buildings in Norway House Cree Nation, while new schools are being planned for Garden Hill First Nation, O-Pipon-Na-Piwin Cree Nation, Tataskweyak Cree Nation, and O-Chi-Chak-Ko-Sipi First Nation.

Wasagamack Anisininew Nation is planning for an airport in the community, which is located 600km north of Winnipeg. Construction on an access road is underway, and the design of the facility will take place over the next year. The $45M project is slated for completion in 2027.

The City of Thompson is contracting Penn-Co Construction Canada to build its new aquatic centre. The $42.6M facility will include a six-lane, 25-metre pool, a beach-entry recreational pool, and a sauna. Construction is expected to take about two years.
The federal and provincial governments are investing $60 million to upgrade the Hudson Bay Railway and redevelop the Port of Churchill. The Arctic Gateway Group, a partnership of 41 First Nation and Bayline communities, will utilize the funds for capital investments in repairing and maintaining the rail line. This project is anticipated to generate 60 to 70 jobs in Northern Manitoba.
