Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Estimating. Quantity surveying. Tasks: Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Provide economic feasibility studies and preliminary estimates for proposed projects. Create and submit estimate reports, quote sheets and bids forms. Utilize quantity take-off procedures. Analyze tenders and recommend awards. Monitor and adjust contract expenditures. Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates. Computer and technology knowledge: Estimating packages. Take-off packages. Spreadsheet. MS Excel. MS Word. Type of experience: Mechanical construction. Commercial and/or industrial construction. Residential construction. Contractors. Project size estimating experience: $100,001 - $500,000. $500,001 - $1,500,000. Area of work experience: Purchasing, procurement and contracts.
