Education: College/CEGEP. Civil engineering technology/technician. Construction engineering technology/technician. Work setting: Estimating. Quantity surveying. Tasks: Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs. Prepare pre-qualification submissions to present clients . Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Prepare estimates for general expenses and overheads. Provide economic feasibility studies and preliminary estimates for proposed projects. Create and submit estimate reports, quote sheets and bids forms. Utilize quantity take-off procedures. Analyze tenders and recommend awards. Monitor and adjust contract expenditures. Prepare and maintain directory of supplies and trade contractors. Prepare and submit construction project budget estimates. Co-ordinate work activities with other project supervisors or managers. Computer and technology knowledge: Estimating packages. Take-off packages. Spreadsheet. MS Excel. MS Word. Type of experience: Civil. Contractors.
