November 2024
Here's what's new on Job Bank since November 2024.
- Managing applications is now easier: Direct Apply is the default method for job postings you copy.
- To improve transparency between employers and job seekers, business numbers can no longer be used as operating names. The operating name must be the one your business uses daily and for advertising purposes.
- You can now share your feedback on the Job Alerts tool in your Job Bank for Job Seekers account. To complete the survey: sign in to your account, open the Alerts tab and click the “Job Alerts Survey” button at the bottom left of the page.
Other:
- Finding labour market information on your mobile device is now simpler. We’ve updated the navigation menu of Job Profiles to help you quickly find what you need.
- We’ve improved the search function on the Job Bank Support page to make it easier to get help and find answers to your questions.
- We’ve updated the Wage Reports page. You can now quickly access all our reports available on the Open Government Portal by clicking on the “Explore historical wage data and more statistics” link.
September 2024
Here's what's new on Job Bank since September 2024.
- To simplify your hiring process, Direct Apply is now the default application method for new job posting. This feature enables job seekers to submit their applications quickly and directly through your postings.
- You can now see how well the candidates’ profile matches your job posting when they apply via Direct Apply.
- You have new options to manage your communication preferences, giving you more control over the type of messages and emails you receive from Job Bank.
- It’s easier to see which employer is hiring. Job postings now automatically show the business' name.

- The Job Transition Tool now offers more job titles to help with your search.
July 2024
Here's what's new on Job Bank since July 2024.
- We updated the workplace information options to align with current industry terminology. You can now choose from the following options when advertising jobs: “Remote”, “Hybrid”, “On-site, and “On the road”. Learn more about these different types of jobs.
- If you have a Plus account, you can now access your profile directly from your Dashboard and update it easily.
- To stay on top of your job search, Job Match now lets you sort your job invitations and matches by match score, job posting date and salary.
- See if the jobs you applied for were “Advertised”, “Filled” or “Expired” and track your applications with ease!
May 2024
Here's what's new on Job Bank since May 2024.
- We have launched a new page for job seekers who want to learn about green jobs that contribute to the conservation, preservation and restoration of the environment. It includes advice and resources to help you find work in the green economy. Visit the page now.
- As a temporary resident, you can now self-declare your status when you create a Plus account. By doing so, you will help us improve our services.
- By completing your close-out report, we can inform job seekers about the status of your job posting. This will reduce follow-up questions from applicants and save you time. Learn how to complete a close-out report.
Other:- The Labour Market News page has a new “Green jobs” flag. This will help you identify news about green job opportunities or layoffs across the country. You can also refine your search by using the new “Green jobs” event type.
- We have improved the School to Work Transition Tool, to show you the number of jobs posted on Job Bank in the past three years for each occupation. This data comes directly from Job Bank.
- Under the " Requirements" tab of Job Profiles, you can now see if an occupation is eligible for the Red Seal endorsement. The data comes from the Red Seal program.
March 2024
Here's what's new on Job Bank since March 2024.
- We have launched a new page for employers who want to make a positive environmental impact. It includes advice and resources to help you advertise green jobs and create an eco-friendly workplace. Visit the page now.
- Now it’s easier for you to show how you support specific groups of job seekers in your workplace. When you create a job posting, you can choose new and updated options to show how your organization helps different types of workers. Your selection will be displayed to job seekers on your job posting. You can also import this information from your business profile.
- To keep up with recent urban developments, our database now includes more than 10,000 new postal codes you can select when you create a job posting.

- Under the "Description" tab of Job Profiles, you can now find new information on the work week duration, physical demands, work environment and physical proximity from others you may expect when you work in a specific occupation. This data comes from the Occupational and Skills Information System (OaSIS).
January 2024
Here's what's new on Job Bank since January 2024.
- The Business Profile includes new options to showcase how your organization supports members of specific groups in the workplace. Learn more about the Business Profile.
- We have improved the process to advertise green jobs on Job Bank. When you create a job posting, you will now be asked to confirm that the position is a green job if you either select a job title from Job Bank's list of green occupations, or a job requirement that leads to positive environmental outcomes. Your job posting will then be clearly labelled as a green job. Learn more about how to advertise green jobs.
- Use the new "Hourly wage" filter to refine your job search and your Job Match results. With this filter, you can find jobs that better align with your salary expectations.
- It's now easier to find green jobs on Job Bank. Look out for the new "Green job" indicator in job search results to find jobs that lead to positive environmental outcomes and help achieve Canada's net-zero target. Search for green jobs now.
Other:
- If you're planning a career change, the new Job Transition Tool recommends occupations that you could transition to based on your current qualifications. It also provides an estimate of how long it could take you to transition from your current job to these recommended occupations.
- Our content pages have a new feedback tool. Look out for the "Did you find what you were looking for?" question at the bottom of the page and let us know what you think. Your feedback will help us improve our content to better serve you.

November 2023
Here's what's new on Job Bank since November 2023.
- You can now request access to an existing employer file from your dashboard if you have an email address with the same corporate domain. This option is not available for users who only have an email address from a free email domain (such as "yourname@gmail.com").
Other:
- We have improved the School to Work Transition Tool to provide you the most up-to-date information about the employment outcomes of different education programs across the country. This data comes from Statistics Canada's 2021 Census.
- You can now access the most recent data about wages, outlooks and recent trends in the labour market by visiting Job Bank’s Job Profiles, Wage Reports and Outlook Reports.
- Under the "Competencies" tab of Job Profiles, you can now find new information on the skills, personal attributes and knowledge required to work in a specific occupation. This data comes from the Occupational and Skills Information System (OaSIS).
- A new contact form is available for organizations that would like to work in collaboration with Job Bank.
- You can now flag potential issues affecting Job Bank's Career Planning tools as you are using them with a new "Report a problem on this page" button.
September 2023
Here's what's new on Job Bank since September 2023.
- The total number of messages you can keep in your inbox is now limited to 100. This means you can only see your most recent messages. Sign in as an employer to view your messages.
- You can now see the nearest employment centres to your current location directly on your dashboard if you have a Guest or Standard account, as long as you have provided a postal code in your account details. Learn more about employment centres.
- You can now find some jobs from Talent.com on Job Bank. Learn why Job Bank advertises jobs from other websites.
- We have improved our job search engine. It now helps you find job postings that match your search criteria even better than before. Search for your next job today.
Other:
- The Job Bank Support page has a new look. It's now easier to find answers to your questions and get the help you need.
- We will soon identify which employers are part of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program's Recognized Employer Pilot. These employers have demonstrated a history of complying with the program's requirements for working and living conditions, and worker protection. Their job postings advertised on Job Bank will now include a "Recognized Employer" designation. Search jobs from Canadian employers who want to recruit temporary foreign workers.
July 2023
Here's what's new on Job Bank since July 2023.
- You can now update your business profile to showcase how your organization supports newcomers and refugees in the workplace. Learn more about business profiles.
- Using the “Exclude placement agencies jobs” filter will now only remove temporary work assignments from your search results. It previously also removed permanent work opportunities advertised by recruitment agencies. Try the filter now.
Other:
- If you go by a different name than your legal first name, you can now add it as a preferred first name in your account. Your preferred first name will be used by default in all future communications from Job Bank. Learn how to add a preferred first name in your account.
- We have published new pages outlining the five key steps you should consider when planning your career. These pages cover every aspect of each step in detail, break them down into actionable advice, and provide links to useful tools and services. Read our new career planning advice pages.

Here's what's new on Job Bank since May 2023.
- You can now repost a job up to 5 days after it has expired.
- When you invite a candidate to apply for your job through Job Match, a unique code will now be generated and shared between both of you. The candidate will be instructed to include this code in their application to help you recognize them. Learn more.
- When employers invite you to apply for their job through Job Match, you will now be provided with a unique code to include in your application. This will help the employer recognize you when they review applications, as they cannot see your name in your Job Match profile. Learn more.
Other:
- You can now reset your user account's security questions and answers yourself without contacting Job Bank. Learn how to do it as a job seeker or as an employer.
- When creating a user account, you can now select the gender-neutral title "Mx." if you do not identify as either male or female. Selecting a title remains optional.

- We have updated our Job Alerts page to provide more information about this service and make it easier for you to subscribe.
- Express Entry candidates who have a Plus account can now apply directly on Job Bank to jobs that have been advertised for over 30 days. Learn more about Direct Apply.

- We have updated our page for employers who are interested in recruiting persons with disabilities. It now includes more advice and resources to help employers create an inclusive workplace. Visit the page now.

- Temporary residents of Canada who have a Social Insurance Number that starts with the number "9" are now eligible to create a Plus account in Job Bank for Job Seekers and sign up in Job Bank for Employers.
- We have redesigned our Career planning and Trend analysis pages to make it easier for you to find the right tools and resources for your needs.

Here's what's new on Job Bank since November 2022.
- You can now indicate if your job is a paid internship. You will find this new option under the "Target audience" step when creating a job posting.
- You can use the new "Internships" filter to find paid internships. Try it now.
Other:
- Job Bank has transitioned to the 2021 version of the National Occupational Classification (NOC). Note that the wage and outlook reports currently available on Job Bank are based on the 2016 version of the NOC.
August 2022
Here's what's new on Job Bank since August 2022.
- You can post a green job and indicate why it contributes to protect or restore the environment under the "Job details" step when creating a job posting.
- A new "Green workplace" indicator appears in the business profile's preview on your job postings when you select green initiatives under the "Business profile" tab in your employer file.
- You can suggest new options that you would like to add to your business profile under each of its sections.
- Tools and resources are accessible directly from Job Bank's home page to help specific groups of job seekers participate in the labour market.
- You can find all the resumes you've uploaded or created with the Resume Builder in one place under the new "My resumes" tab in your account.
