True North Real Estate Development has acquired Portage Place, a shopping mall in downtown Winnipeg. The company is planning to convert the buildings into a $650M mixed-use project that includes a health care services complex, a grocery store, 216 residential units, and office space for community and social services agencies.

Construction is underway on The Chancellor, a new housing project by Paragon Living in Winnipeg’s south end. It consists of 95 rental units, including 38 affordable suites. The organization plans to begin the renovation in 2025, employing workers through a local social enterprise that trains Indigenous people at risk of homelessness.
