The Government of Canada is spending $4.8M on a retrofit to Winnipeg’s Gordon Bell High School that is expected to halve the building’s energy use. Construction began in summer of 2023 and is scheduled to be complete by fall 2025.
The City of Winnipeg is scouting sites for a new outdoor aquatic park in the St. Boniface neighbourhood, due to the closure of two aging facilities in the area. The Happyland pool closed this year, while the Windsor Park pool is scheduled to close after the 2025 season.
The federal government is providing $21.2M to the Neeginan Centre, a collection of Indigenous organizations and programs located in Winnipeg's former Canadian Pacific Railway Station. The funds are offered through the Green and Inclusive Buildings Program, and will include upgrades to heating, lighting, and ventilation systems.
The City of Thompson is seeking a company to construct its new aquatic centre, with $15M raised for the project so far. A request for proposals was issued in November 2023 and closed in late January.
