Job Posting: Capello Network Lead & Programmer Company: Capello Systems Location: Ottawa Capital Region Job Type: Full-time (In-Office) Job Overview Capello Systems is seeking a skilled Network Lead & Programmer to take charge of designing, configuring, and programming network solutions for our clients. This is a system programming role, where you will be responsible for network configuration, security, and system integration, working closely with technicians who handle the physical installation of network infrastructure. The ideal candidate has experience in network deployment, security configurations, and system integration. Additionally, this position offers an exciting growth opportunity into advanced system programming, with training provided in security, access control, CCTV, and AV automation technologies. Capello Systems primarily deploys Ubiquiti (Unifi) networks and the Netgear AV line of networking equipment. We also integrate various security solutions, including Unifi CCTV, Unifi Door Access, and third-party systems such as ICT, SALTO, and Keyscan for access control, as well as a wide range of third-party CCTV and AV solutions. * Product knowledge of Ubiquiti Unifi network systems is a strong asset. * Ability to obtain government clearances is a strong asset. * A clean criminal record is required. Work Environment & Residency Requirements * This is a full-time, in-office position at our Ottawa Capital Region location. * This is NOT a remote position?however, work-from-home flexibility is available for life event accommodations when required. * Candidates must be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant. * A valid Full G driver's license is required. * Must be able to pass a background check and provide a clean criminal record. Primary Responsibilities ? Network Configuration & System Programming * Program, configure, and manage enterprise-grade network systems, including VLANs, routing, firewall rules, and security policies. * Implement and manage Layer 2 & Layer 3 network infrastructures, ensuring optimal performance, redundancy, and security. * Configure and deploy wireless networks for commercial and residential applications, including Wi-Fi 6 and mesh networking solutions. * Deploy and secure Guest Wi-Fi networks, isolating them from critical systems using SSID segmentation and captive portal authentication. * Set up secure network environments for CCTV, security, door access, entry panels, and AV systems. * Work alongside installation technicians who will handle the physical deployment of network infrastructure, including cabling, racks, and hardware installation. * Collaborate with the sales team to provide technical guidance on network solutions and align with overall company strategy. * Assist in network design, estimating, and pre-deployment planning for new projects. Network Deployment ? Infrastructure for Large-Scale Projects The Network Lead & Programmer will work on designing and programming network infrastructures for a variety of building environments, including: * Condominiums & Multi-Unit Residential Buildings * Rental Units & Apartment Complexes * Nursing Homes & Assisted Living Facilities * Commercial Warehouses & Industrial Facilities * Corporate Offices & Business Hubs The physical installation of network infrastructure will be handled by technicians, while this role focuses on network programming, configuration, and security. Relevant Industry Knowledge for Success in This Role A strong candidate for this position will benefit from familiarity with: Networking Industry Standards & Technologies: * TCP/IP networking, VLANs, and subnetting * Layer 2/Layer 3 switching and routing (Unifi, Netgear, or similar brands) * Wi-Fi 6/6E, mesh networking, and wireless security best practices * 802.1X authentication and network access control (NAC) * Firewall configurations, VPN, and remote access technologies * QoS (Quality of Service) and VoIP network optimization Security & Surveill
