The City of Medicine Hat is seeking a dynamic non-union Superintendent - Project and Asset Management to lead our Parks and Recreation asset management system and capital projects. In this pivotal role, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of our community's recreational infrastructure, ensuring high-quality service delivery and long-term sustainability. If you are adaptable, consistent, and ready to make a meaningful impact, we want to hear from you!Your key responsibilities Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive asset management plan, focusing on optimizing resources and service delivery. Oversee project delivery and management for Parks and Recreation capital programs, ensuring timely completion within budget constraints. Collaborate with staff on capital projects, delegating tasks and coordinating resources to achieve program goals. Conduct site inspections and manage contractors to ensure compliance with City standards and specifications. Develop annual project plans for capital rehabilitation and upgrades, monitoring and controlling expenditures. Foster a collaborative environment by building strong relationships with partners, user groups, and community partners. Research and implement best practices in asset management and operational innovation. Lead and provide supervisory oversight to a diverse team, ensuring alignment with departmental goals.What you bring Proven experience in process planning and resource allocation, particularly in a municipal or public sector environment. A background in program development and the ability to effectively delegate high-level event management tasks within your team. Strong organizational skills with a track record of consistent performance in fast-paced settings. A flexible and adaptable mindset, capable of navigating change and responding to challenges with confidence. Exceptional interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and teamwork across various departments and partners. A strategic thinker who can analyze complex situations and develop innovative solutions to optimize asset management practices. Commitment to delivering excellent customer service and addressing the needs of community partners and users. Strong financial acumen, with the ability to manage budgets effectively and ensure the responsible use of resources.Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Administration, Management, or Engineering from a recognized institution. Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in asset/capital planning, including at least three (3) years in a supervisory or managerial capacity. Asset Management certification from an accredited Asset Management Institution and Project Management Professional (PMP) certification would be considered an asset. Valid Class 5 driver's license with an acceptable driving record. An equivalent combination of management-approved training and experience may be considered.Why join us?
