Medical Receptionist for a busy physician at the Ivey Eye Institute.
We are currently looking for a Medical Receptionist to join our practice. Working in a multidisciplinary ophthalmology practice is a fast-paced and dynamic environment that is both stimulating and rewarding. We are looking for a hardworking and energetic candidate to fill this role. The successful candidate will possess excellent customer service skills and will greet patients in a friendly and professional manner.
This is a part-time hourly position. The expected work days are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30-4:30. Hours are mainly 8-5, however, it is expected that you will stay until the end of clinic.
*Job Description and Responsibilities*
As a medical receptionist you will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
· Scheduling and booking patient appointments, procedures and surgeries in Cerner.
· Working with computers and Electronic Medical Records.
· Management of patient medical charts: data entry for surgeries, pre-operative work up, informed consents, pre- and post-operative surgical counselling.
· Coordinate referrals: triaging, scheduling and confirming appointments.
· Correspond with other offices for incoming and outgoing referrals and other tasks via mail, e-mail and/or fax.
· Use software applications to prepare letters, medical records, reports, and invoices.
· Submitting insurance and other claims forms, including OHIP billing.
· Managing the physician?s clinic and operating room calendars.
· Facilitating patient flow and communication with patients and clinical staff
· Additional duties include but are not limited to filing, photocopying, shredding, anticipating the needs of the clinic, maintaining an inventory of supplies and medications, keeping the reception area clean and organized.

· Superior communication skills, with excellent telephone manner, professionalism, and active listening.
· Able to multi-task efficiently when dealing with high volume of complex patients.
· Strong work ethic.
· Takes direction well.
· Proven good attendance record.
· Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
· Good computer knowledge and strong typing ability.
· Ability to work in a team as well as independently with minimal supervision.
· Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure.
· Ability to meet deadlines.
· Knowledge and experience with surgical booking and processes.
· Experience in a medical setting as a receptionist/medical office assistant is mandatory ? over 2 years of experience is preferred.
