ABOUT US: Onion Lake Family Services is an organization that strengthens family units by offering support and resources to parents and caregivers, aiming for healthy homes. Our short-term, strength based services focus on empowering families for long term improvement and skill building. *ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES* The Investigator will use family systems theory to assess the need for protection of children. Under the supervision of the Assistant Child Protection Supervisor, the Investigator will carry out The Child and Family Services Act of Saskatchewan mandate. · Investigate, identify, document, and respond to physical, emotional, and behavioral indicators of abuse, neglect, and emotional injury. · Conduct child and parent interviews to determine child abuse / neglect · Collaborate with extended families, teachers / school officials, RCMP, and other family services agencies to determine concerns. · Perform Structured Decision-Making Risk assessments (SDM) at all required points in the life of a case file. · Assess strengths and needs of children and families in collaboration with the family while assisting to increase protective factors and decrease risk factors. · Conduct face to face interviews with children and families to assess risk and safety. · Provides referrals, support, guidance, and problem solving to clients to address issued related to family functioning. · Organizes, arranges, and conducts case conferences, and / or participates in Family Circles. · Assist clients to build skills and find solutions to stabilize family function while mitigating risk to children · Support clients by building confidence and skills in their abilities. · Consults with supervisor as required, documents discussion and outcomes of consultation at required decision points. · Ensures all documentation is complete as per Family Centered Case Management Policy and file standards. · Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of services and supports in addressing the identified risk factors. · Utilize computer systems (Redmane) for case management purposes, inputting all required case information. · Attend court to give testimony to cases facts. · Ensure the development of a safety plan and required supports are identified within the plan. · Other duties complimentary to the role of investigator. *QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS* ? BSW or BISW ? 5+ years experience in child protection ? Driver?s License ? Clear criminal record with vulnerable sector. *COMPETENCIES* ? Proven experience in child protection. ? Knowledge of computer technologies. ? Thorough understanding of _The Child and _ ? _Family Services Act of Saskatchewan._ ? Understanding of the historical significance of residential schools and how it relates to OLCN ? Work under pressure and stress situations ? Punctual ? Strong principles & ethics ? Physical ability to lift up-to 20 lbs. ? Attention to detail *HAZARD ASSOCIATED WITH JOB* ? Physical and cognitive ergonomics ? Aggressive incoming calls ?
