The Occupational Health and Safety Manager oversees the company?s health and safety operations, managing all related programs and services. In consultation with the Director or VP, this role involves developing strategies, plans, and policies that ensure compliance with federal, and provincial regulations. The manager is responsible for the planning, due diligence, and quality control measures necessary to identify, assess, and mitigate health and safety risks within each plant at Mubea Cyclone.
*Responsibilities:*
* Stay informed on relevant health and safety regulations, guidelines, and best practices.
* Understand and enforce company policies and safety terms to maintain a compliant work environment.
* Demonstrate strong judgment, decision-making abilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
* Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.
* Apply technical writing skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar software for reports and documentation.
* Assist in project management, budgeting, and the allocation of resources to support health and safety initiatives.
* Ensure proper training for first aid, CPR, and any other relevant medical or emergency protocols.
* Translate business strategies into actionable health and safety protocols that align with company goals.
* Lead and provide guidance to employees and management on health and safety practices and strategies.
* Monitor and ensure departmental adherence to health and safety regulations.
* Prepare and present reports, responding to inquiries and addressing concerns promptly.
* Stay current on developments in health and safety regulations, ensuring continuous improvement in safety practices.
* Collaborate with management to develop and implement screening protocols for health and safety.
* Conduct regular site visits and spot audits to ensure compliance and identify potential hazards.
*Qualifications:*
* At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
* A University Degree, College Degree, or equivalent qualification in Safety, Industrial Health, Risk Management, or a related field.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage diverse groups and effectively deliver messages to both small and large audiences.
* Proven leadership abilities and a track record of influencing the adoption of health and safety strategies across multiple departments.
* In-depth knowledge of Ontario's provincial guidelines and regulations.
* Experience in handling chemicals safely and efficiently.
