As a pillar of the Langley City services, Fire Rescue Service provides 24/7 emergency response across fire and medical emergency needs within the City?s boundaries. In addition, the Fire Rescue Service has a dedicated public education and fire prevention program, conducts fire and life safety inspections, and works in collaboration across City functions to advance integrated community safety and services.About the RoleReporting to the Fire Chief, the Deputy Fire Chief assists the Fire Chief in planning, organizing, coordinating and directing the operations of the Fire Department, including fire suppression and related emergency services. This position ensures the department operates effectively within Council-approved policies, municipal bylaws, and community expectations. The Deputy Fire Chief exercises significant independent judgment and decision-making while executing responsibilities aligned with department policies, plans, and objectives. Direct reports to this role include career Firefighters and Fire Prevention Officers.This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, forward-thinking leader in Fire Services with a proven record of progressively responsible roles within the Fire Department. The preferred candidate will bring demonstrated leadership experience with a successful record in strategic planning, operations and administration. The Deputy Fire Chief position requires post-secondary education in business administration or a related discipline, specifically a diploma or Certificate program in Local Government Administration, Fire Service Management or equivalent. This position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a consultative approach and effective management style.The salary for this exempt position is $159,111-$173,865, supplemented by a competitive total compensation plan.
