Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Furniture manufacturing company. Industrial. Residential. Tasks: Operate woodworking machines, such as power saws, jointers, mortisers and shapers, to cut, shape and form parts and components. Prepare specifications of custom-made cabinets that maximize storage. Shape surfaces or edges of wood workpieces, using hand tools, such as planes, chisels, or wood files.. Instruct apprentices. Apply varnish, veneer, stain or polish to finished products. Maintain clean and safe work environment. Repair or restyle wooden furniture, fixtures and related products. Area of specialization: Cabinets. Furniture. Furniture and cabinet remodeling. Kitchen cabinets and vanities. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Attention to detail.
