*Job Summary*
Part of a group of companies, Drake Excavating (2016) Ltd. is a civil and general contracting company, based out of the Lower Mainland of BC. We specialize in municipal infrastructure work, including waterworks, roadworks, and utilities projects. We are seeking a full time Project Accountant to become an integral part of our team. You will be responsible for day-to-day accounting and overseeing financial activities as well as identifying areas of improvement to increase efficiency. You will be part of a growing team in a fast-paced environment, working closely with all office personnel, reporting directly to the Controller, Senior Management and the President.
*Responsibilities:*
* Responsible for all accounts receivable, including processing and following up on overdue accounts
* Assist Project Managers with compiling monthly progress draws, including generating statutory declarations and WCB Clearance Letters
* Reconcile work in progress, progress billings, holdbacks receivable/payable, and deficiency holdback accounts regularly
* Monitor lien holdback and deficiency holdback release dates and prepare invoices as required
* Assist Project Managers with processing and tracking of Change Orders, EWO?s and Site Directives
* Assist Project Managers with compiling cost summaries for non-contract Work Orders
* Assist and facilitate Project Managers in compiling project budget at start-up
* Assist Project Managers with tracking subcontractor progress draws
* Assist with booking accommodations for out-of-town projects
* Responsible for purchasing, including issuance of all Purchase Orders, and credit card usage in the office
* Oversee AP functions and processes, with the ability to provide support as needed
* Oversee and assist with credit card management and reconciliations
* Oversee and assist with fuel card management and reconciliations
* Responsible for tracking all rental equipment on a monthly basis
* Completion and submission of credit applications
* Assist with the tracking of purchase orders to minimize strain on cashflow
* Prioritize and maintain relationships with clients and key vendors
* Maintain digital and paper filing systems
*Qualifications:*
* University diploma in accounting/finance strongly preferred
* *Three years or more relevant experience in the construction field*
* Full cycle accounting experience
* Experience with Sage 50 and Sage 100 Contractor preferred
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, strong Excel skills
* Excellent written and verbal English communication skills; punctuation and grammar skills are mandatory
* Must be a self starter with strong leadership qualities
* Great interpersonal skills and able to receive and give direction
* Team player with the ability to collaborate with others
* Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
* Deadline and detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
* Must love dogs

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
