People like you!This is manual work in the cleaning and care of various Park?s buildings and premises. An incumbent attends recreation centres and other Parks facilities during assigned times, attends to routine requests from patrons for assistance and information relative to specific events or facilities usage, as well as patrolling buildings and adjacent grounds. A Parks Janitor sweeps, mops, strips, waxes, buffs and polishes floors; vacuums floors; dusts, cleans and polishes furniture; cleans windows; replaces fluorescent tubes and light fixtures, empties receptacles, replenishes washroom supplies, moves chairs, arranges tables and performs related tasks. Other responsibilities include unlocking doors, adjusts heating controls, turns lights on and off to prepare building for daily use; sweeps sidewalks, clears snow and picks up refuse; prepares simple reports related to the work. Performs related work as required.Qualifications include up to high school graduation with some related experience in janitorial or custodial work or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Sound knowledge of the standard methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial care and maintenance of buildings; of the general regulations and procedures governing facility operations. Ability and sufficient strength to perform light manual work; to understand and execute oral instructions; to deal courteously with the public. Skill in the use of a variety of tools used in the work. A valid Driver?s License for the Province of British Columbia is required.
