This is a hybrid position
Reporting to the Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis, the Financial Analyst will play a key supporting role to ensure the creation and timely delivery reporting, forecast and other FP&A activities.
*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*
* Support the financial modeling and analysis to develop long term strategic initiatives and business plans.
* Analyze data from multiple sources to ensure consistency, accuracy, and completeness.
* Support business partners with ad-hoc analysis.
* Provide analytical support to senior leaders and business partners, assist in completing business cases and postmortem analysis
* Assist with manipulating data and data mining, as well as translating complex financial data into meaningful analyses and insightful recommendation
* Assist in preparing and analyzing of KPI reports, store budgets, labour allocation, and shrink.
* Provide support to Manager, FP&A with weekly sales variance analysis and in explaining KPIs (ASPT, SPH, UPT, PL etc). Provide insight to weekly changes in sales and KPIs, suggestions on how to improve, possible impacts
* Proactively analyze key trends, identify risks and opportunities, and support the business teams? delivery against financial targets.
* Informs the Manager, FP&A whenever opportunities are seen to create cost savings, improve profitability and to protect company assets.
* Actively involved in the weekly/monthly forecasting process
* Work closely with retail operations, District Managers, and financial team to close month end, provide value added variance analysis
* Identify opportunities to improve process and systems and implement standardized solutions across area of responsibility and other areas within finance which includes Operations, Supply chain, Real Estate, etc.
* Support the development of annual budgets by aligning targets with key business partner and then partnering with their organizations to set departmental targets based on market dynamics, historical performance, and any known capital and/or expense investments.

*COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES, TRAITS) AND QUALIFICATIONS: *
* 7 plus years? experience in a Finance Role
* Bachelor's degree, finance, or accounting
* CPA or MBA designation or in progress
* Previous experience working with Merchandising/Finance/Retail Operations and interpreting data
* in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access)
* Experience with Board or other BI software is an asset
* Experience with NetSuite or other financial systems is an asset
* Project management skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment
* Strong communication skills, written and verbal to effectively obtain information, communicate issues, actively engage in influencing others.
* Developing and presenting power point presentations independently
* Must possess strong analytical skills with attention to detail and consistency in report presentation
* Decision making and problem resolution skills with minimum supervision
