Malahat Nation places great importance on increasing the participation and success rates of Malahat Nation members in education, training, and development. This position is ideal for you if you are an innovator able to engage in the community and you have a strong desire to make a difference in our community.PURPOSE: Reporting to the Director of Community Programs, the Cultural and Community Wellness Program Lead is responsible for overseeing the coordination of cultural and wellness initiatives outlined in the Community Programs and Malahat Nation Organizational Strategic Plans, affecting positive impacts related to Language, Culture, Heritage, and Wellness. This position is fulltime permanent position and will require work in the office, as well as moderate local travel, with some ability to work remotely.RESPONSIBILITIES: Facilitate and coordinate logistics and scheduling for cultural and community wellness initiatives Assist in coordinating and administering and managing program deliverables, including the development of the Cultural and Community Wellness Program strategic goals and work plan Assist in the hiring process for program staff in collaboration with Human Resources Direct, supervise, monitor, and evaluate performance of employees and discipline where necessary in accordance with the Human Resources Policy Prepare funding proposals, reports and other technical memos to support program initiatives in collaboration with Director of Community Programs Conduct administrative responsibilities, including reporting, invoice reconciliation and budget management in collaboration with Director of Community Programs Meet with Elders and community knowledge holders as required to gather relevant information to inform delivery of programs Support community event coordination involving culture and community wellness Participate in community engagement meetings and events Participate in a variety of internal and external committees and working groups Manage budget and report regularly on the progress of the Culture & Community Wellness initiatives and any associated cultural and wellness projects Receive and respond to community input, feedback and concerns Present briefings for Malahat Chief and Council in collaboration with Director of Community Programs Other duties as required.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor?s Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Public Administration, or related field; or, an acceptable combination of education, training and experience Minimum 1-year of program administrative experience preferred Knowledge of Indigenous culture including land-based activities, spiritual understanding, importance of collaboratively working with our elders and familiarity with community preferred Experience working in an indigenous organization is essential, and a willingness to learn and understand Indigenous and Coast Salish history, culture and traditions is an asset Valid Class 5 or 7 BC Driver?s License and clean drivers abstract required Crim
