Our schools are teaching communities where principals, vice-principals, teachers and support staff nurture student well-being and challenge students to achieve their best.<p>We are seeking creative, dynamic, committed educational leaders<p> to join the following initiative:<p>Registered Early Childhood Educator - Floater<p>100% Regular (10 month work year)Availability to work in all shifts, i.e. 6:45am - 2:15pm & 10:45am - 6:15pm is required A personal vehicle is required. Mileage is eligible for reimbursement.$25.80 - $32.80 per hour<p>Starting rate based on very specific Credit for Experience criteria in the SSP Collective Agreement The RECE - Floater is dispatched to schools that are in need of a replacement RECE Overview Under the direction of the Principal, the Early Childhood Educator works in collaboration with the classroom teacher to provide high quality and effective play-based education to support enhanced learning and cognitive, emotional and social development for Junior and Senior Kindergarten students in a full-day Early Learning Program. The Early Childhood Educator leads an extended program - before and/or after-school - for OCDSB students at designated elementary schools, and works with the teacher in daily classroom activities with students. Applicant Qualifications <p> The ideal candidate will have completed a two-year community college program in Early Childhood Education, or equivalent.<p> Registration and good standing with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators is required.<p> A minimum of one (1) year of child care experience is required.<p> Valid First Aid certification/CPR is required.<p> Immunization Record with proof of MMR and Tdap immunizations (as well as a personal declaration of having chicken pox in the past, or the chicken pox vaccine) is Required for employees hired with the OCDSB after September 1, 2022.<p> Police Records Check for the Vulnerable Sector Check done within the last 6 months for is required for new to OCDSB employees. PRC-VSC done within the last 5 years is required for current OCDSB employees Skills and Abilities <p> A thorough understanding of early childhood development and knowledge of elementary school operations. <p> The successful candidate must have good communication skills in order to effectively communicate with parents, staff, and students.<p> Ability to use tact, discretion and good judgement.<p> The incumbent must have the ability to work with minimum supervision within a multicultural environment, and can respect and work with a diverse range of children and families of all backgrounds and abilities.<p> Demonstrates sensitivity to individual needs of children in a multi ethnic and multilingual environment.<p> Demonstrates initiative and creativity.<p> Has the ability to model healthy adult-child relationships and positive discipline.<p> Adapts well to changing demands. <p> As an effective team player, this position works collaboratively with teaching staff to achieve goals. <p> For some OCDSB schools, the position may be designated by the Employer as bilingual (English & French essential).
