Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: At heights. Outdoors. Tasks: Determine type of glass, frames and material required. Measure, mark and cut glass. Position and secure panes in frame. Assemble and install prefabricated glass, mirrors or glass products. Install door, window and other hardware. Prepare shop drawings. Repair glass doors and other glass structures. Assemble, erect and dismantle scaffolding, rigging and hoisting equipment. Supervise other workers. Estimate costs and materials. Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Type of glass/materials: Acrylic plexiglass. Float glass. Mirrors. Sealed units. Frame fabrication and installation: Curtain wall (stock length material). Curtain wall (prefabricated material). Glass cutting equipment and techniques: Cutting wheels. Self-lubricating cutters. Cut glass plate manually (straight cuts). Cut glass plate free-hand (curved cuts). Edge glass plates. Laminate glass. Installation specialization: Skylights and slope glazed installations. Curtain walls. Aluminum storefronts, barrel vaults, solariums, commercial window systems. Heat resistant ceramics. Shower doors and tub enclosures. Equipment: Carbide and diamond bits. Security and safety: Basic security clearance. Criminal record check. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Handling heavy loads.
