The successful applicant will work under the supervision of the principal of the school. The successful applicant will work under the direction of the classroom teacher and/or learning support teacher.<p>For applicants who have not completed an Intervenor Diploma Program, there will be 60 hours of coursework required as a condition of accepting this position. The coursework is completed online in a paced environment with weekly assignments and discussion forums required. The position will be awarded based on qualifications and seniority per the terms of the collective agreement.Rate of Pay: Level 1: 30.19 Level 2: 33.42Threshold Qualifications:<p> Completion of an Intervenor Diploma Program.<p> Basic understanding of vision and hearing differences and their effect on the social, physical, and psychological development of students with deafblindness.<p> Basic knowledge of language acquisition and development<p> Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and work collaboratively as a member of a large educational team.<p> Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written, using tact and diplomacy when handling contacts of a difficult, specialized, or sensitive nature<p> Ability to establish trust and rapport with students and staff.<p> Maintains student confidentialityDesirable Qualifications:<p> 6 months experience working with children or youth with deafblindness.Duties Include, but are not limited to:<p> Working under the direction of the classroom teacher, in consultation with the Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and Teacher for Students with Visual Impairments, to assist in providing the educational program by adapting classroom activities and materials to meet the specialized needs of the student.<p> Work with the POPDB Teacher for Students with Deafblindness on understanding the nature of deafblindness and unique Intervention needs of the student.<p> Facilitates communication between students with deafblindness, other students and staff by providing deafblind Intervenor services in and out of the classroom, adjusting to the signing, visual needs, education, and communication levels required.<p> Assists deafblind students by providing information to facilitate their participation in their educational program in school and community environment.<p> Implements educational support programs designed by professionals such as school-based personnel, occupational therapists, district teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing, district teacher for students with visual impairments, and POPDB teacher for students with deafblindness.<p> Assists with the modification of the classroom environment and adaptations to curriculum materials to meet student needs.<p> Particip
