Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: Noisy. Dusty. Work setting: Construction. Various locations. Renovation. Tasks: Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs. Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements. Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools. Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. Prepare tenders and quotations. Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems. Estimate costs and materials. Operate CADD and other computer software systems. Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks shoring and barricades. Operate woodworking machines, such as power saws, jointers, mortisers and shapers, to cut, shape and form parts and components. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling. Handling heavy loads. Physically demanding. Attention to detail. Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years.
