PBF Pita Bread Factory specializes in the development and manufacturing of conventional and organic ethnic baked goods including Pita, Tortillas, Bagels, Naan, Pies, Cookies, & Pizza Pretzels. PBF offers branded, private label, and co-packing services to Canadian and US customers.
We are currently looking for a Payroll Clerk member to join our team.
*Job Purpose *
Provide support and direction for payroll activities in accordance with company policies and established best practices, maintaining confidentiality.
*Job Description*
* Serve as the first point of contact for all employee wage and tax inquiries.
* Manage the bi-weekly/weekly payroll process and ensure timely processing and reporting.
* Process payroll for BC and ON plant.
* Analyze, audit, and maintain accurate employee tax withholding, wage garnishment, direct deposit, wage distribution, and other related payroll data.
* Ensure employee wages are paid in accordance with all applicable legal requirements.
* Modify employee wage and tax data accordingly, following best practices and obtaining proper authorization and approvals.
* Report payroll to WCB, EHT, WSIB.
* Review and process all prorations for new hires, terminations, promotions, vacations and leave of absence.
* Research issues and promptly resolve requests and inquiries from employees.
* Assist in the processing, collection, and remittance of special payments including voluntary and involuntary deductions.
* Maintain payroll records; file supporting documentation for all edits and adjustments.
* Collect, maintain, and audit timekeeping records.
* Serve as the primary contact on payroll-related questions/issues and provide guidance on all applicable payroll related policies and procedures to employees.
* Stay current with system upgrades and their compliance with federal and provincial wage or tax adjustments.
* Prepare and audit payroll reports on a periodic, quarterly, and annual basis, making corrections as needed.
* Generate payroll reports for business units and departments as needed.
* Prepare and gather payroll data for inclusion in financial statements.
* Comply with all food safety requirements, training, policies, and procedures.
* Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
*Qualifications (Education, Experience, Competencies) *
* Diploma/certification in payroll or equivalent work experience.
* 3+ years of progressive payroll experience.
* Multi-province payroll processing experience preferred.
* Familiarity with federal and provincial tax.
* Experience with ADP preferred.
* Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills.
* Strong math/accounting aptitude with excellent attention to detail.
* Ability to appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information.
* Ability to multi-task, manage changing priorities, and work well under pressure.
* Strong communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the company.
* Cultural competency; experience/ability to work and interact effectively with a diverse, multicultural audience.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
