Join our Shoreham Team!!Department: Food and Nutrition ServicesReporting to: Manager, Melissa HoughtonQualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent requiredBasic Food Safety certificate an assetPrevious kitchen or service experience requiredPrevious experience working with elders in a health-care setting is an assetRegular attendance and punctuality are requiredWHMIS CertificationMust be able to attend in-service programs while on dutyMust be able to work a rotating scheduleMust be able to lift and move up to 50 lbsSuccessful completion of Food Handlers Course within the past five yearsKnowledge of the following:Risk Management ProceduresEnvironmental Hazard AwarenessProper Body MechanicsCrisis Intervention MethodsFall Prevention MethodsWHMISTasks/Responsibilities:Maintains and checks diet/serving kardex sheetsPrepares selected food items for residents and staff as directed while ensuring standards of portion controlPrepares dining room for residents' mealsServes meals in an attractive and courteous manner in the dining areaSets up trays and hot cart, ensuring they are in accordance with tray cards, kardex files and diet listsTakes trays and hot carts to the dining areasProperly stores all non-perishable groceries upon delivery as directedCollects and washes soiled dishes from table in the dining room, tray and hot carts; Scrapes dishes and stacks in the dishwashing areasEnsures all garbage is disposed of in appropriate mannerPlaces and washes dishes in the dishwasher; stores clean dishes and utensils in proper areaCleans kitchen, dining areas and related dietary areas of responsibilities on the cleaning schedules as directedMaintains a high degree of safety and sanitation in all work areas and in all proceduresAttends a Food Handlers course as offered, minimum of once every five years.Performs a variety of cleaning duties including the washing of dishes, equipment counters, floors, etc.Reports any equipment requiring maintenance and all safety hazards immediately upon discoveryAssists the cook in food preparation and deliver food items and equipment required for catering to special functions as per request forms.Assists in the training of students and new staff as directedPerforms other duties as requiredHours: CasualStart Date: Immediately Salary: As per Shoreham ScaleApplications:Completed internal application forms must be submitted online through the Hub.
