The Engineering Services department of the Infrastructure Services division has an opportunity for qualified individuals to apply for the position of Manager, Engineering Services. Reporting to the General Manager of Infrastructure Services, this position offers 72 hours bi-weekly, starting as soon as possible. The Manager, Engineering Services is responsible for the oversight of the engineering department, management of the engineering information systems, review of technical information provided by development applications and the duties of the Municipal Approving Officer. Key responsibilities include special projects, property acquisitions, expropriations, technical review of infrastructure projects, implementation of legal documents and agreements for development applications as dictated by Council, fulfilment of Land Title Act subdivision documents, policy review and development of operating and capital budgets for the department. This position will collaborate and provide leadership to the department including supervision of work, performance management, maintaining levels of work that meet the environmental standards of Whistler Official Community Plan and will manage the priorities of the department to meet organizational expectations. Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor of Civil Engineering or diploma program in Civil Engineering Technology, hold a professional Engineering Designation or Applied Science Technologists & Technicians affiliation, and have at least 5 years of experience in a similar management position. Qualified candidates have working knowledge of municipal infrastructure, understanding of construction, property law, and the duties of a Municipal Approving Officer, can lead, negotiate and gain cooperation on projects with a variety of internal and external interest groups and provide recommendations based on research to Council and Senior Management. Completion of the MATI? School for Statutory Approving Officers is considered an asset. The successful candidate is an experienced leader, collaborator, and skilled communicator in both written and verbal form, with effective presentation and negotiation skills. Proven management skills to lead workgroups to achieve results within budgets and deadlines on multiple projects is required. The annual salary for the Manager, Engineering Services is $124,562.83. As a requirement of the position, the successful applicant must hold a valid BC class 5 driver?s license and must provide a satisfactory driver?s abstract.
