The BOEC provides opportunities for students to connect with nature and learn outdoor skills in accordance with the Ontario curriculum. <p>Eligibility: <p>First Consideration: Permanent Educational Assistants, Early Childhood Educators and Child and Youth Workers (full-time or part-time).<p>Second Consideration: Qualified members on recall (Educational Assistants, Early Childhood Educators and Child and Youth Workers)<p>Third Consideration: Temporary Educational Assistants, Temporary Early Childhood Educators, Temporary Child and Youth Workers and Temporary Outdoor Education Specialists (on applicable supply list) may apply.<p>Qualified applicants that meet the eligibility requirements will be considered for an interview. <p>We thank everyone for applying, however, only applicants who will be moving forward in the selection process will be contacted.Application Process: <p>Qualified applicants are invited to apply for this position online using Apply to Education (ATE) at https://bwdsb.simplication.com/ .<p>Please include the following in your application: resume, cover letter, minimum two professional references (with written permission to contact) as well as proof of relevant post secondary education completed. First consideration applications are also asked to provide current permanent assignment (FTE and location) and current work location (if different than permanent assignment). <p>Permanent Vacancy: <p>One (1) permanent part-time (0.6 FTE) Outdoor Education Specialist required.<p>Location: Bluewater Outdoor Education Centre (South Bruce Peninsula)<p>Schedule: Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays<p>Supervisor: Deborah Diebel, Site Manager<p>Duties and Responsibilities: Facilitation of curriculum-driven inquiry based outdoor programs for students<p> Development of virtual classroom resources for teachers<p> Site work<p> Leadership of meals and overnight duties<p> Other duties may be assumed as required by the Site ManagerQualifications and Experience: Post-secondary education (Environmental Science/Studies, Biology, Ecology, Outdoor Education/Recreation, Outdoor Education AQs, Forest School Canada certification or related fields of study)<p> Experience developing and facilitating nature- and inquiry-based curriculum for children in an outdoor setting <p> Demonstrated interest in and experience as a naturalist; knowledge of the natural history of the region<p> Current First Aid/CPR Certification, O.R.C.K.A Basic Instructor and Trip Leader 2 Certification or equivalent, National Lifeguard Certificate<p> Command of the computer technology required for effective social media and virtual classroom developmentAssets: Additional related qualifications (N.L. Waterfront, Wilderness First Aid, C.A.N.S.I. Ski Instructor, GPS Green Check Certification, Safe Hiker)<p> Experience with Coyote Guide Core Routines, Art of Mentoring, or complimentary programs (Bushcraft skills and experience: Tracking, wilderness survival, traditional crafts, botany) <p> Experience and certification pertaining to low-ropes course and/or team building facilitation<p> Demonstrated leadership, communication and interpersonal skills<p>- LocationWiarton, ON
