Job details
Education: Registered Apprenticeship certificate. Mechanics and repairers, general. Heavy equipment maintenance technology/technician. Heavy/industrial equipment maintenance technologies, other. Medium/heavy vehicle and truck technology/technician. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Dusty. Noisy. Tasks: Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions. Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required. Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts. Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications. Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work. Perform repair work on heavy trucks. Perform other routine maintenance. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Driver's License (Class 1 or A). Policy and program experience: Apprenticeship training. Area of specialization: Mechanical components. Truck-trailer repair. Diesel engine repair specialization: Exhaust system. Cooling system. Lubrication system. Engine control system. Major internal engine repairs or overhaul. Installation and alignment of engines and machinery. Powered equipment repair specialization: Cable-operated working attachments. Hydraulic-operated working attachments. Compressors. Pumps. Industrial lift trucks and fork-lifts. Mechanical maintenance and repair specialization: Mechanical transmissions. Drive trains and final drives. Hydraulic transmissions. Power take-offs. Tracked vehicle suspensions and steering. Wheel-mounted vehicle suspension and steering. Highway vehicle tires and wheels. Tasks
