With a career at The Home Depot, you can be yourself and also be part of something bigger.This position will be part of the Distribution Centre and Transportation team which has responsibility for the processing of inbound and outbound shipments across the country. The Yard Controller will report to the Yard Assistant Manager and work closely with both our Transportation team and our Distribution team to ensure product flows efficiently in and out of the Distribution Centre, off-site yards and the main yard.Duties include the following:Execute Dock ScheduleMaximize dock door utilization and line load opportunitiesMaintain accuracy of Yard ManagementCommunicate with Yard Shunters, Security Staff, Carriers and Operations to enhance dock efficiencyMaintain Dock OfficeResolve yard discrepancies. Proactively communicate within Warehouse Team and with other departments for issue resolution and process improvementsMust be able to perform KPI's, spreadsheets and administration tasksMust be flexible in working hours ? overtime, vacation coverage, and off-shiftsMust be comfortable spending time outdoors in the Yard during all seasonsExperience/Knowledge Required:Good interpersonal and communication skillsTransportation of Dangerous Goods certified (will train as required)Strong PC skills including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and WordAttention to detail and accuracy, good time management and organizational skillsExcellent verbal, written and critical thinking skillsExperience with Yard Management Software- LocationCalgary, AB
