We are accepting applications for a Term (12 Month - with possible extention) Occupational Therapist/Healthy Workplace Advisor.3000.00 Sign on Bonus Available Responsible to the Associate Director, People ServicesQualifications:Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Occupational or Physiotherapy TherapyCurrent member in good standing with relevant professional collegeCurrent CPR and First Aid CertificationThree to five years of relevant work experienceExperience in disability management preferred.Proficiency in MS OfficeWorks by Provincial Acts and other legislation including OH&S, WCB Act, and Human RightsAbility to develop and maintain strong working relationships both internally and externallyKnowledge of the following: Body Mechanics (e.g., safe lifting), Risk Management Procedures, Provincial Acts and Legislation, Safe Client Handling Tools and EquipmentStrong verbal, and written communication and assessment skillsAdult education experience (an asset)Ability to meet expectations of regular and consistent attendance within the corporate standard of 4%Ability to demonstrate safe work practices and lift to 44 lbsAbility to travel between sites and work outside of regular business hours on occasion.Major Responsibilities:Occupational health and safety of employees of NorthwoodFacilitates stay and work and return to work initiatives and plansDevelops injury prevention strategiesCompletes ergonomic assessments & functional assessmentsProvides support to program area Managers and Staff as a content expert i.e. safe client/resident handling train-the-trainer.Provides support to program area Managers and Staff as a content expert i.e. safe client handling, participates in SCH/PACE train-the-trainer and supports training when requiredTasks:Leads and provides resources to support Occupational Health and Safety Committees including evidence based reports and injury analysis reports (incident and WCB reporting).Leads and works in conjunction with the co-chairs of the Organisational Health and Safety Committee on external Labour Board Inspections.Responsible for creating Organisational Health and Safety Action Plan in line with recommendations from the Labour Board, follows up on progress with oversite at the Organisational Health and Safety CommitteeParticipated in Organisational Health and Safety Inspections across work location (in conjunction with OH&S Committee)Responsible for providing WCB/Injury/Incident reporting as part of the quality improvement plan Scorecards and board reporting on a quarterly basisCompletes ergonomic assessments in offices, department sites and in client homes and provides recommendations.Manages return to work processes including accommodation due to disability, medical limitations.Maintains partnerships and liaises with treating health professionals and Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) Case Managers.Responsible for WCB case management in work location and will provide cover across all Northwood Sites if needed.Responsible for working with WCB on reducing claim costs across Northwood companies in line with the Provincial Return to Work/Stay at work Program.Collaborates with outside partners as needed to support employee health (i.e. maintains contact with vendors and OTs in community).Develops, implements and evaluates education and awareness programs such as ergonomic assessments, injury prevention and departmental safety training.Liaises with Aware NS, WCB and other health and safety organizations in relation to best practice initiative and training across the organisation that benefits employees, managers and services.Provides advice to managers regarding disability management and occupational health and safety concerns.Participates as a member of committees as requiredThis is not an exhaustive list, other duties as part of this position maybe required depending on operational requirements and changes.Salar
