<p>Position Description <p>A temporary part time (0.6) Library/Prep/Grade 4/5 Teacher is required by School District No. 60 (Peace River North) effective November 12, 2024 until the return of the incumbent but not beyond June 30, 2025. The assignment will be at Taylor Elementary School.<p>Taylor Elementary is a K-6 school located in the beautiful Peace River Valley twenty minutes from the bustling community of Fort St John. We enroll a population of 120 students. Our school has a staffing complement of 7 teachers and five support workers as well as a principal and a part time librarian. We engage in an exciting opportunity for students to learn with hands-on and experiential learning and embrace technology to help students learn and communicate with parents.<p> <p>Taylor's unique setting provides outdoor activities that are not found in many schools. Our students have access to a hill that is utilized for tobogganing and hiking throughout the year. The District of Taylor is a strong community partner and allows our students access to the skating rink, swimming pool, river, pickle ball court, campground/park, golf course, community hall and curling rink. With these partnerships students are able to expand their learning beyond the classroom walls and regular classroom setting<p><p> <p>See www.taylor.prn.bc.ca and our school Facebook page for more information.<p>https://www.facebook.com/sd60taylor<p> <p>Qualifications and Experience <p><p> Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)<p> Qualifications and demonstrated ability to teach the identified subjects at the elementary years level<p> Experience with universal design and differentiation to meet the diverse needs of students<p> Excellent interpersonal, communications, collaboration and organization skills<p> Experience/training/knowledge of Social Emotional Learning. Demonstrated ability to create a positive classroom community contributing to a safe, caring, and healthy school where every student feels a sense of belonging<p> Strong belief in the philosophy of inclusion and the potential of all students to learn<p> Understanding of the BC Curriculum and ability to plan both short-term and long-term in consideration of class composition<p> Willingness to work in a collaborative model with staff on the foundation of enhancing student learning<p> Demonstrated use of classroom management practices that are pro-active and maintain student dignity<p> Demonstrated use of assessment practices that promote student learning and maintain student dignity<p> Working knowledge of the IRP?s to plan effectively <p> Working<p> knowledge of Performance Based Assessment, Balanced Literacy, Phonemic<p> Awareness Development, working knowledge of current practice in teaching<p> numeracy<p> Ability to use performance standards in reading, writing, numeracy and social responsibility <p> Committed to individualized instruction and group instruction utilizing a variety of effective strategies and techniques<p> Ability<p> to work as part of a team to develop and implement individualized<p> learning plans for students with academic, social, emotional, and<p> learning difficulties<p> Ability to assist in the implementation of individualized education plans for low incidence students<p> Knowledge and understanding regarding the needs of autistic children, commitment to use of visual supports <p> Experience working with educational assistants experience teaching in a multiage setting <p> Committed to working with staff on the school plan and with professional development <p> Ability to relate well with students parents and staff members <p> Committed to following the goals and strategies outlined in the school improvement plan<p> Experience<p> with balanced literacy programming, particularly guided reading, and<p> writing; Including teaching guided reading to students in all Primary<p> grades.<p> Working<p> knowledge of Performance Based Assessment, Balanced Literacy, Phon
