<p>MECHANIC <p>Position Description:There is a position available for a Mechanic in the Transportation Department with School District #60. Applications must be completed online and will be accepted until noon, November 6, 2024.<p>Reporting to the Transportation Supervisor and Transportation Working Lead, this position is responsible for maintaining the School District vehicle fleet including school buses, motorized and non-motorized maintenance vehicles, as well as compressors, light plants and grounds equipment.<p>Hours of work: Eight (8) hours per day, five (5) days/week<p>Duties to Commence: As soon as possible after closing<p>Work Year Base: Twelve (12) months per year<p>Commencing Salary : $43.81/hr.<p>Duties: Carries out duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor.<p> Performs mechanical and electronic diagnoses and repairs on vehicles and equipment.<p> Performs safety checks and road tests vehicles.<p> Keeps a clean and well maintained workplace at all times.<p> Fills out work orders as required.<p> May be called upon to act as lead hand in the absence of the Working Foreman - Transportation.<p> Follows proper safety rules and standards by ensuring the worksite is safe and secure, that equipment and vehicles are operated according to set standards.<p> Ensure the safe handling of hazardous materials (WHMIS) and the safe use and operation of equipment and hand tools.<p> Informs the Supervisor(s) and/or Administrative Officer of vandalized equipment or property.<p> Performs other job related duties as directed by the Transportation Supervisor. <p>Qualifications and Attributes: <p> Inter provincial Red Seal Certified Heavy Duty or Commercial Transport Mechanic<p> Knowledge of computerized diagnostic equipment<p> Minimum Class 5 driver's licence with air brakes endorsement<p> Acceptable Driver's abstract<p> Vehicle inspectors certificate would be an asset<p> WHMIS Certificate and other online safety training provided by the District to be completed within the probationary period<p> Other applicable safety training and/or certifications as provided by the District to be completed as needed<p> Must be able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Search conducted by the District prior to starting employment<p> Good interpersonal skills and the ability to be an integral part of a team<p> Ability to work independently and set prioritiesPlease Note: Proof of graduation and or highest level of education is required prior to starting work For more information please contact: <p>Cindy Dettling, Transportation Supervisor (250)263-6426 or email cdettling@prn.bc.caAll applications must be made through Make A Future website for consideration for the position.
