District of KitimatIT TechnicianExempt Staff Position, Regular Full-Time The District of Kitimat is recruiting for the position of IT Technician. Under the direction of the Information Technology Manager, the IT Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of hardware, software, equipment and systems, the delivery of customer support to end users, and providing technical support to the development of the IT Department.We offer a competitive salary, a comprehensive benefits package, professional development opportunities, complimentary use of our recreation facilities, relocation assistance and a rental subsidy. Provides technical advice, problem solving and training to network users. Desktop imaging and patch management. Monitors system performance and troubleshoots system and hardware problems. Maintain and update systems documentation. Review and investigate system logs to proactively avoid system down times. Maintains IT inventories, updating schedules as needed and properly disposing of equipment. Maintains backup system. Attends Council Meetings and provides technical assistance and recording services. Other duties in similar scope and complexity.Qualifications, Skills and experience required include: Diploma in computer science or related field including CompTIA A+ and Network + or equivalent. Two years of work experience in the following areas: PC repairs and upgrades Desktop and application support Network troubleshooting experience Additional technical certifications or experience in any of the following technologies are considered an asset: Nutanix, Fortinet, Unitrends, Office 365, Adobe Creative Cloud, Azure, Sophos, Manage Engine, Canon copiers, VoIP Telephone networking, and AV equipment support. Ability to work as a team and show initiative to work independently. Attention to detail, methodical configuration of systems, and following complex instructions. Strong ability to analyze and troubleshoot under pressure Proactive network monitoring and visiting sites to uncover issues before they emerge. Committed to professional development and ongoing advancement of skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical information into user friendly information. Class 5 or 7N Driver?s license. Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
