Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Automotive engineering technology/technician. Work setting: Repair and maintenance services. Level of expertise: Maintenance and repair. Tasks: Confirm findings with supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace unit. Discuss work with supervisor. Inspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions. Inspect mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions. Inspect motor in operation. Review work orders . Road test motor vehicles . Test automotive systems and components. Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of automotive systems. Repair or replace mechanical units or components. Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer's specifications. Perform scheduled maintenance service. Test and adjust units to specifications. Complete reports to record problems and work performed. Repair and adjust system components. Perform on-site servicing and repair. Conduct preventive maintenance programs. Assist in operation, repair and maintenance. Test electrical, electronic and instrument components. Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records. Repair and maintain electrical and electronic controls for propulsion and braking systems. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Automotive Service Technician Trade Certification. Area of specialization: Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Driving record check (abstract). Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail.
