Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Tasks: Inspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions. Inspect motor in operation. Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of automotive systems. Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of truck-trailer systems. Repair or replace mechanical units or components. Perform scheduled maintenance service. Complete reports to record problems and work performed. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Truck and Transport Mechanic Trade Certification. Area of specialization: Engine repair. Electrical and electronic system. Diesel engines. Diagnostics. Alignment, steering and suspension. Brake system. Fuel and emission system. Ignition and electrical system. Truck-trailer repair. Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Hand-eye co-ordination. Attention to detail. Manual dexterity. Standing for extended periods. Own tools/equipment: Tools. Steel-toed safety boots.
