With a little over 300 students, Jimmy Sandy Memorial School is currently seeking a Special Education Technician for the 2024/2025 school year.</p><p><strong>?Benefits </strong>- move-in ready subsidized housing - northern premium - paid outings - food transportation allowance - relocation expenses are provided under certain conditions and much more!</p><p><em>Percentage of work: 100%</em></p><p><strong>THE POSITION</strong></p><p>You will embody the heart of our educational mission through your caring approach and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, driving the application of a variety of special education methods geared towards providing each young person with the support they need to thrive and succeed, whatever their background and needs.</p><p><strong>THE RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></p><ul><li>Work in synergy with the teaching team, families and external resources to provide targeted support for students with special needs.</li><li>Innovate in support methods and design customized learning strategies.</li><li>Contribute actively, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, to the creation, development and implementation of personalized intervention plans.</li><li>Monitor student progress and encourage an open, stimulating environment conducive to learning.</li><li>Develop, organize and lead diversified activities to reinforce various student competencies.</li><li>Provide direct academic support, particularly in basic skills, lessons and homework.</li><li>Adopt a proactive approach to supporting students in their adaptation and behavioral management, using optimal and adapted communication techniques. </li><li>Provide information on social issues and refer students and their families to specialized resources, as needed.</li><li>Manage the supervision of students requiring specific follow-up after sanctions and organize their school reintegration.</li><li>Ensure the safety and support of students requiring special attention during school transportation, if necessary.</li><li>Rigorously document observations and interventions, keep student files up to date, and prepare detailed reports.</li><li>Manage the administration of medication according to medical and school guidelines, and intervene in first aid, if necessary.</li><li>Guide and train new team members and supervise support staff tasks related to technical operations.</li><li>Carry out any additional tasks adapted to emerging needs.</li></ul><p><br></p> <br> <ul><li>Hold a college diploma in Special Education Techniques or a diploma/certificate recognized as equivalent.</li><li>Be fluent in written and oral English. Knowledge of French would be an asset.</li><li>Have experience with students with behavioral and academic difficulties.</li><li>Valid first-aid certificate.</li></ul>
