<p>Mission Statement: Homes First Society develops and provides affordable, stable housing and support services to break the cycle of homelessness for people with the fewest housing options.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>Position type: Full time, Contract</strong></p><p><strong>Reports to: Fire and Life Safety Systems Supervisor</strong></p><p><strong>Contract duration: November 25, 2024, to July 25, 2025</strong></p><p><strong>Submit Resume to: ramya.rengaraman@homesfirst.on.ca</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>Applicants must quote ?LSS-24"</strong></p><p></p><p></p><p>The successful individual in this role would ensure fire safety at Homes First by participating in the provision of Fire Safety and Prevention programs at all Homes First sites, while adhering to the mission statement and policies and procedures of Homes First Society.</p><p></p><p><strong>Job Description:</strong></p><ul><li>Ensure proper processing of work orders related to life safety systems including requests for replenishments of AED pads, safety eye wash solution, replacing safety lighting etc.</li><li>In charge of distribution and delivery of life safety systems items</li><li>Completing daily check-ins at properties</li><li>Ensuring compliance with Toronto Fire safety including ensuring doors are not propped open; all fire safety egresses are free of debris; all emergency exit signs are properly working; all doors are closing properly; and ensuring all alarms on doors are in working order</li><li>Ensuring that units are in compliance with fire safety prior to new tenancy</li><li>Demonstrate and maintain professional interpersonal skills when dealing with internal and external personnel.</li><li>Other duties as required</li></ul><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>1 year of experience in Fire Safety/Life Systems Safety</li><li>College/university certificate/diploma in Fire Protection Engineering, Fire and Emergency Services, Fire and Life Safety, or recognized equivalent</li><li>Ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times</li><li>Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word);</li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills</li><li>Exceptional organization and time management skills</li><li>Ability to problem solve, propose solutions/alternative</li><li>High degree of accuracy and attention to detail</li><li>Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision</li><li>Ability to handle multiple projects and assignments</li><li>Able to prioritize and meet budgets deadlines and achieve objectives</li><li>Sound judgment and a high degree of professionalism</li><li>Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing</li><li>Knowledge of homeless population and ability to work with people who have mental health and addiction issues an asset</li></ul><p></p><p></p><p>Working in an environment where there may be smoke is required.</p><p>The successful applicant must provide a criminal record check that is satisfactory to Homes First Society.</p><p></p><p>Homes First Society is an equal opportunity employer</p><p></p><p>Please no phone calls, only those people selected for interviews will be contacted.</p><p></p><p></p><p><strong>Accommodation</strong></p><p></p><p>Homes First is committed to creating an accessible and inclusive organization.
