Our junior high school currently serves over 450 students in grades 7-9. In September 2022, our high school campus opened a NW location located in the University Innovation Quarter with 115 Grade 10?s; we have since grown to a school of 800+ Grade 10-12 students with a second Jr. High location opening in Fall 2025. With a mission to inspire the next generation to be knowledgeable creators, innovators, and responsible leaders, we believe every student can be successful in STEM and should have the opportunity to learn about cutting-edge science, math, and technology topics. <p>Position Information <p>High School Computer Science and/or Mechatronics (CTS) Teacher - Full time commencing January 2025 <p>(Taught in our designated Computer Science space - The Boolean Lab)<p>Education and Experience <p><p> Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate <p> Bachelor of Education Degree or equivalent recognized by Alberta Education<p><p>Demonstrated Skills and Competencies <p><p> Collaboratively work with CTS team members and learning leader to support Grade 10-12 student learning in our robust STEM options program.<p> Ability to learn and develop as a professional - willingness to learn.<p> High level of organization and efficient project management; flexibility and adaptability in managing multiple class projects.<p> Student centered approach and a willingness to personalize learning to the needs of the student. Provide formative and summative assessment to students on identified learning outcomes throughout the term.<p> Foster positive relationships with students to create an atmosphere of trust and encouragement in the classroom.<p> Commit to ongoing curriculum enhancements and development.<p> STEM Innovation Academy has options that fall within three strands: Design and Engineering, Computational Thinking and New Media. Computer Science falls within our Computational Thinking strand, necessary knowledge and skills include:<p> Computer Science: <p> <p> Computer science topics may include digital information, the internet, app design, variables, conditionals, functions, lists, loops, traversals, algorithms, parameters, return, libraries, data, cybersecurity, and global awareness. <p> Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.<p> Computational thinking concepts: abstraction, decomposition, pattern recognition, testing and debugging. <p> Physical computing with Adafuit circuit playground, DJI Tello drones, Arduino and Raspberry Pi. (or willingness to learn).<p> Competency in multiple programming languages.<p> Design and implement a rigorous computer science curriculum that aligns with Alberta CTS standards.<p> Integrate innovative teaching technologies and real-world applications into the Curriculum. <p> <p> And/or<p> Mechatronics 15: <p> <p> Fundamentals of robotics and engineering through the VEX V5 platform, focusing on the integration of mechanical, electronic, and programming skills. (or willingness to learn).<p> Comfort with hands-on learning , students participate in practical, project-based learning, designing and constructing robots using the versatile VEX V5 kits which include motors, sensors, and structural components.<p> Programming techniques using VEXcode, where students learn to write, test, and debug code to control robot movements and complete specific tasks and challenges.<p> Understanding of various electronic components, including sensors and microcontrollers, and how they contribute to robot functionality and decision-making.<p> Mechanical design principles, providing students with skills to conceptualize and build robust robotic systems capable of p
