The *Electrician* is responsible for the layout, installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical wiring, light fixtures, control devices and related equipment in the facility. Working as part of the Maintenance Team, the Electrician ensures all machinery is running safely and the plant is operating in compliance with applicable regulations. All maintenance work will be carried out efficiently, while having the highest priority on safety.
*Responsibilities*
* Identifies and repairs fault issues within the electrical systems.
* Reads and interprets drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications to plan wiring layouts.
* Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and performs preventive maintenance on all associated equipment.
* Uses a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment while performing duties.
* Communicates effectively with Maintenance and Operations personnel, suppliers and contractors to safely and efficiently, suppliers, and contractors to determine effective electrical maintenance practices.
* Ensures electrical preventive maintenance, Safety, Good Manufacturing, and other practices are followed in compliance with regulatory and legislative codes, while always maintaining a safe work environment.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
*Requirements*
* Experience as an industrial electrician preferably in a manufacturing environment.
* Red Seal Provincial Electrical certification (Red Seal Industrial Electrician) or Interprovincial certification required.
* Excellent communication skills including English proficiency (both verbal and written).
* Consistent commitment to working safely.
* Experience and knowledge of electrical systems, blueprints and apply NEC requirements.
* Solid understanding of electrical theory and principles.
* PLC and Control System experience an asset.
* Ability to troubleshoot mechanical equipment, motors, and other electronic systems and equipment.
* Ability to use appropriate hand, power and specialty tools and diagnostic equipment to complete job tasks.
* Desire to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to prioritize.
* Ability to build rapport quickly with key members of the maintenance team.
* Demonstrated ability to react to situations with a strong sense of urgency using a creative and logical approach to resolution.
* Superior problem solving and time management abilities.
* Able to lift and carry objects as required.
* Ability to work overtime during the week and weekend when needed
*Wage and Benefits:*
* Starting hourly wage is $ 35.75, as per the collective agreement
