Posted: April 19, 2024Application Deadline: OPENSecurity AnalystInformation Technology Services DepartmentProfessional Staff GroupRegular Full-TimeClassification: Non-union/Professional Band DSalary Rate: $56,763 - $69,347 (based on 40 hours per week)OverviewThe IT Security Analyst is part of a team responsible for securing the university's technology infrastructure through the implementation and maintenance of policy, processes, technologies, and education that support the institution's cyber security program.Key ResponsibilitiesEnsures university IT systems' security through threat monitoring, secure access, controls enforcement, and regular security evaluations.Plans, implements and upgrades security measures and controls for university systems. Researches, recommends, and installs appropriate tools and countermeasures.Establishes protocols to protect data and information systems against unauthorized access, modification, and/or destruction.Anticipates and investigates security threats, alerts, incidents, and disasters and reduces their likelihood.Analyzes security threats to determine their risk/root cause, escalates to Security Team Lead and other senior IT leadership, participates in incident response processes, and provides thorough post-event analysis and reports.Performs ongoing vulnerability analysis and/or coordinates target vulnerability testing, and risk analyses.Participates in security program assessments and plays a key role in developing annual cybersecurity plans.Conducts and/or coordinates security audits of internal systems and externally hosted (cloud) systems.Develops and/or maintains security awareness and other IT security training programs. Acts as the advocate of good security practices on campus.Mentor fellow employees in security awareness and procedures.QualificationsA Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.7-11 years of progressive, proven experience in IT systems and/or network administration, and cybersecurity.Cybersecurity industry certifications would be considered an asset.Strong work ethic and proven success working in a team environment.Self-starter, able to work independently as required.Experience in a university environment is considered an asset.Strong organizational skills and excellent interpersonal skills.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.Application InstructionsThis position will remain open until a successful candidate is selected.
