*OVERVIEW*
ROLE PURPOSE
The Chemist internally referred to as _*Chemist, Research & Development (R&D) *_will perform chemical and physical laboratory tests to aid the research team in qualitative and quantitative analyses of solids, liquids, and gaseous materials for research and development of new products or processes and quality control. The role will support the Senior Manager, Technical Service and R&D in product development and process improvement.
*ACCOUNTABILITIES*
*Product Development*
* Focus on product quality to ensure conformity with standards and specifications
* Create experimental formulations or prepare chemical solutions for items or processes using standardized formulas
* Application of Six Sigma to improve product quality and process improvement
* Provide technical help or assistance to team members
* Document experimental data, technical reports by creating graphs or charts
* Develop novel items or processes by designing or fabricating experimental apparatus
* Consult with scientists or engineers while doing research analysis, interpreting test results, or developing non-standard tests
*Chemical Analysis*
* Analyze organic or inorganic materials to determine chemical or physical attributes, composition, structure, relationships, or reactions using chromatography or any analytical methodologies
* Maintain laboratory instruments to ensure correct operation and, if necessary, troubleshoot the issues when needed
* Prepare test solutions, chemicals, or reagents for testing by laboratory workers
* Introduce chemical catalysts to cause changes in the composition of substances for quantitative or qualitative study
*Process Control*
* Compile and evaluate test data to determine the efficiency of a process or piece of equipment, or to diagnose a problem
* Prepare standards and requirements for processes, facilities, products, or testing by writing technical reports
* Develop or carry out sampling and analysis programs to ensure that raw materials, chemical intermediates, or finished products meet quality standards
* Compile and analyze test results
* Create innovative chemical engineering techniques or manufacturing technologies
*People Development*
* Direct, coordinate, or advise personnel in the testing of components or physical qualities of materials
* Provide training on process or lab procedures and policies to other team members
*Health and Safety*
* Examine laboratory safety procedures to confirm that they are in conformity with industry requirements or to make any necessary adjustments
*QUALIFICATIONS*
*Education & Skills*
* Bachelor?s degree with Chemistry / Chemical Engineering
* 3 ? 5 years? experience in similar role
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
* Computer proficiency
* Math proficiency
* Ability to perform chemical testing of materials
* Ability to calculate ratios, proportions, and measure area
* Ability to solving problems
* Ability to working on computers and other office equipment
* Ability to work on SAP/ERP
