JOB SUMMARY:Under the direction of the Regional Pain and Rehabilitation Department Head in addition to the concerned medical director, the physiatrist focuses on the diagnosis, medical management, and rehabilitation of individuals of all ages with neuromusculoskeletal disorders and associated disabilities. Physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians, also known as physiatrists, assess and manage individuals with physical and cognitive-behavioural impairments and disabilities. Physiatrists provide care for a broad range of patients, across all age groups, with inherited, congenital and acquired neurological, musculoskeletal and medical conditions, such as spinal cord injury, stroke, acquired brain injury, trauma, amputation and pain. Physiatrists focus on maximizing functional independence and quality of life using the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) as their framework. Physiatric treatments include pharmacological, non-pharmacological and interventional approaches. Non-pharmacological treatments include patient education and counselling, non-invasive pulmonary rehabilitation strategies, prescription exercise, orthotic and prosthetic devices, adaptive equipment and mobility aids. Physiatrists perform and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, such as electrodiagnostic studies and injections for pain and spasticity. They use state-of-the-art technologies such as robotics, microprocessor prosthetic and orthotic components, and virtual reality-based therapies to help patients attain higher functional levels than were previously achieved. In addition, he may be called upon to participate in research activities in his field of practice, as well as in the teaching activities in his department, in collaboration with the Centre de formation médicale du Nouveau?Brunswick.REQUIREMENTS: Degree from a recognized medical school and residency granting a licence in physical medicine and rehabilitation (physiatry).A recognized medical school is a school that meets the following criteria:Accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS) or the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) (in the United States); OR Listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools with a note for Canada. Recognized certification in physical medicine and rehabilitation (physiatry) from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada; Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick; Active member of the Canadian Medical Protective Association or equivalent liability insurance association; Member of the New Brunswick Medical Society; Privileges with Vitalité Health Network; Registration with New Brunswick Medicare; Experience (one to three years) is considered an asset; Any other combination of training and experience deemed relevant and equivalent could be considered; Ability to remain calm; Organizational skills; Time management skills; Ability to set priorities; Patient service mindset; Interpersonal skills; Sound judgment; Problem-solving skills; Attention to detail; Interest in furthering his own knowledge; Sense of responsibility; Ability to communicate with colleagues, patients, families and visitors with tact and courtesy; Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Physical ability to perform assigned work; Good work history (performance and attendance); Adherence to professional ethical principles, to the Network's management philosophy and to organizational values; Compliance with the rules of confidentiality set by Vitalité Health Network.NOTES:The salary for this position is fee-for-service or salary-based? depending on the candidate's choice.Moving expenses allowance.Possibility of a recruitment incentive depending o- LocationBathurst, NB
