We are seeking a seasoned Professional Engineer (Electrical) to assume a crucial role in the engineering and design of electrical sub-systems within hydrogen processing facilities developed by HTEC in British Columbia. The ideal candidate should possess over 12 years of comprehensive experience in both low and medium voltage design, encompassing sub-station, motor controls, hazardous locations, plant operation, and large motor applications. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, dedication to precision, and the ability to manage multiple tasks across various projects are essential for success in this role. Collaboration with project managers, fellow engineers, HTEC Operations groups, consultants, and sub-trades will be a key aspect of the position.
*Responsibilities*
* Provide electrical engineering, design, and oversight for hydrogen process plants including liquefiers and electrolysers, with an emphasis on power distribution and large motor applications.
* Lead project teams effectively and provide general project coordination services.
* May be required to seal electrical drawings and technical documents for British Columbia based projects dependent upon PEng status.
* Offer ongoing maintenance support for LH2 and electrolysers plants. Including low and medium voltage power distribution and motor control.
* Willingness to travel to job sites for fieldwork, commissioning, and support.
*Skills/Experience/Knowledge*
* Design knowledge and experience in both LV & MV electrical power distribution systems (5-20 MW).
* Proficiency in specifying equipment, cables, motors, controls, protective relays, transformers, circuit breakers, LV variable frequency drives, MV/LV motor control centers, and hazardous area equipment.
* Design of medium voltage protection systems (schematics and wiring) and knowledge of protective relays (SEL, GE, ABB, etc.).
* Working knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code C22.1, C22.2, and IEEE Standards related to medium voltage.
* Familiarity with hazardous zone classifications, protection concepts, equipment selection, utility substations and transmission lines an asset.
* Electrical power system studies experience (load flow, short circuits, arc flash, motor starting, grounding, etc.) would be an asset.
* Experience/knowledge of at least one software: ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, EMTP is helpful.
* Motor control and relay schematics, AutoCAD 2D.
* PLC knowledge, wiring, I/O schematics, control systems, and troubleshooting.
* Ability to write reports and correspond effectively with customers, sub-trades, and utilities.
*Qualifications*
* A degree in electrical engineering from a recognized institution.
* Minimum of 7 years of related work experience, preferably in Canadian industrial projects.
* P.Eng (EGBC) certification or current valid EIT status.
