CASUAL LIBRARY RESOURCE TECHNICIAN <p><p> <p>As a collaborative tame member, Casual Library Resource Technicians are responsible for the efficient daily operation of the library services within an educational setting. <p>Duties/Responsibilities:- <p><p> Maintain individual school resource collections including purchasing all print, non-print and audio-video resources, cataloguing materials, the circulation of library materials (sign-out, return renewal), and conducting an annual inventory;<p><p><p> Assist in the monitoring and planning/ preparation of annual estimates for school library needs;<p> Responsible for sending out overdue notices, compiling lists of overdue materials and users with materials owing;<p> Bulletin board preparation;<p> Professional library maintenance, vertical file organization, and technical service requirements;<p> Shelf reading, book shelving;<p> Provide assistance with students including library and research skills instruction, reading to students and maintaining routines and rules in the library;<p> Organize and operate book fairs and other promotional activities;<p> Assist staff with resources and reference materials as required;<p> Assist and support Literacy initiatives; and<p> Other related duties as assigned.<p><p><p>Qualifications:- <p><p> Successful completion of a two-year community college library technician program plus a minimum of 6 months related job experience;<p> Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work harmoniously with students and staff;<p> Ability to take initiative;<p> Familiarity with computers, audio visual equipment and the ability to conduct preventive maintenance;<p> Keyboarding minimum 35 words per minute; and<p> Reliable transportation.<p><p><p>Applications must include: <p><p> Cover Letter;<p> Resume; and<p> Proof of successful completion of a post-secondary Library Technician program.<p><p><p>Preference is given to individuals in the casual Library Resource Technician Pool for all permanent Library Resource Technician positions.<p>About Us: <p>As a Catholic Learning Community, the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board provides faith formation and academic excellence, which enables our graduates to live a life of love and service in Christ. The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board provides a Christ-centered education to approximately 12,000 students within 28 elementary schools, 3 secondary schools and a multisite Alternative Education school and 3 administrative offices.<p>The Board currently employs over 1500 permanent staff and approximately 350 casual and occasional staff which includes teachers who are supported by a team of consultants, principals and administrators and non-academic staff who work to ensure the best possible facilities, supports and resources are available to our students and the system. The Board encompasses the broad geographical area of the City of Brantford and the counties of Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk.
