Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work setting: Machinery manufacturer. Metal product fabrication industry. Sheet metal shop. Structural steel fabrication company. Tasks: Check products for correct shapes, dimensions and other specifications. Clean and lubricate machinery and equipment. Cut, bend, roll, ream, punch, drill, weld or otherwise shape and form metal stock into parts or products. Document work completed. Investigate problems to fix or make minor repair. Lay out, set up and operate one or more light or heavy metalworking machines. Read and interpret specifications or follow verbal instructions. Select and transport material to work area manually or using crane or hoist. Equipment and machinery experience: AutoCAD. Brakes. Drills. Lifting device. Micrometers. Overhead crane. Saws. Hand tools. Brakes and presses. Metal forming or shaping operations experience: Bending. Cutting machine. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Fast-paced environment. Hand-eye co-ordination. Standing for extended periods. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs). Personal suitability: Excellent oral communication. Flexibility. Judgement. Organized. Team player.
