St. Joseph?s General Hospital Elliot Lake (SJGHEL) is a Centre of Excellence and was founded on the rich history and legacy of the Sisters of St. Joseph, who built and administered the Hospital. SJGHEL is a 55-bed hospital with three satellite sites. It is the largest corporation in 3.5-hour corridor between Sault Ste. Marie and Sudbury, Ontario that provides; Obstetrical Services, Intensive Care, Surgical Services, Specialist Clinics, Addiction Treatment Services, CT Scanning, Dialysis Services, and Inpatient/Outpatient Diabetes Education and Care. We also provide the largest Satellite Oncology Program with over 500 visits annually.
Are you ready to lead, inspire and educate to further enhance the quality of patient care? We are looking for two dynamic Nurse Practitioners to join our dedicated teams in the Emergency and Inpatient Care Departments!
As a Nurse Practitioner you will fulfill the role as an advanced practitioner, educator, researcher, and consultant. You will work autonomously to provide expert clinical care with full accountability and authority to independently diagnose, order diagnostic tests, and prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with the standards set by the College of Nurses (CNO). You will be reporting directly to the Manager, Patient Care Clinical Services. Your expertise will play a critical part in driving our mission forward!

* Utilize advanced clinical knowledge and skills to assess and diagnose acute illnesses, injuries, chronic diseases, co-morbidities, and emergency health needs
* Work collaboratively to create and implement comprehensive treatment plans
* Support, educate and coach patients and their families
* Comply with relevant legislation, professional standards, organizational policies and commit to continuous self-improvement and professional development
* Serve as a preceptor, mentor, and coach to colleagues, healthcare team members, and students
*The ideal candidate will possess:*
* Current certificate of competency from the CNO as a Registered Nurse in the Extended Class with a Primary Health Care specialty
* Membership with a professional association such as Canadian Nurses Association, Registered Nurses Association of Ontario or Nurse Practitioner Association of Ontario
* Participation in annual individual competency improvement in accordance with the CNO Quality Assurance requirements
* Current ACLS certification and knowledge of Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale
* Three (3) years varied nursing experience including emergency and acute care
