People like you!The City of Burnaby is currently seeking auxiliary Interpreter Leads for the Burnaby Village Museum, a busy 10-acre site that emphasizes fun and meaningful learning, and values personal encounters with history. The successful candidates will be responsible for supporting and monitoring the delivery of interpretive programs and content to visitors; providing orientation, training, and direction to staff and volunteers; monitoring client and public use of the site; as well as providing information to visitors and supporting programming staff. They will also assist in the development of new programs as directed; maintain records and perform administrative work; ensure the rules and regulations pertaining to the use of the facility are observed; and assist in the planning and implementation of programs and events. Performs related work as required.Qualifications for this position include completion of Grade 12 plus courses related to museum work and sound experience delivering programs to groups and individuals or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The ideal candidate has experience leading staff and volunteers; is proficient in tactfully handling challenging interactions with the public; and is able to adapt to the unique complexities of a large open-air museum. Ability to provide orientation, training and work direction; establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and visitors, and communicate effectively are assets. Additional strengths include sound knowledge of the principles, practices and educational objectives of the Museum and of related interpretive techniques, as well as knowledge of general Canadian history, educational objectives of the museum and related historical events in British Columbia. A Driver?s License for the Province of BC is required.Location: Burnaby Village MuseumPay Rate: $29.48 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits.Hours of work: As this is an auxiliary position, hours and shifts can vary depending on operational requirements and are scheduled on an as needed basis which does not provide guaranteed hours. Typical shifts in this position will be from:Monday through Sunday between the hours of 8:00 AM to 8:30 PM. March - September (Spring Break and Summer Season): Monday to Sunday, between the hours of 8: 30 AM - 5:30 PM.
