Job details
Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Dusty. Odours. Tasks: Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems. Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of truck-trailer systems. Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts. Keep maintenance reports and documentation. Instruct apprentices. Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work. Service attachments and working tools. Order parts and maintain inventory. Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions. Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required. Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications. Perform repair work on heavy trucks. Powered equipment repair specialization: Hydraulic-operated working attachments. Mechanical maintenance and repair specialization: Tracked vehicle suspensions and steering. Mechanical transmissions. Hydraulic transmissions. Highway vehicle tires and wheels. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Manual dexterity. Standing for extended periods. Handling heavy loads. Physically demanding. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs). Personal suitability: Dependability.
