Applicants are encouraged to self-identify on their electronic application.Reporting to the Manager of Clean Energy, the successful candidate will be responsible for promoting the adoption of renewable and clean energy technologies within our organization and community through policy, projects and programs. More specifically, this role will support in the electrification of over 500 light-duty fleet vehicles, as directed by HalifACT and our Municipal Electric Vehicle Strategy.In this position, the successful candidate will be responsible for Project Managing the rollout of both electric vehicles and suitable charging infrastructure across all municipal depots. Support the design and tendering of fleet charging infrastructure projects. Support the testing, ongoing operating and maintenance of both fleet and public charging equipment. Support the education and Change Managment campaigns as it relates to the fleet transition. Support other clean energy initiatives like our emissions inventory, building energy retrofits, solar and wind policy and programming. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Assists with the implementation of the Municipal Electric Vehicle Strategy, specifically the light-duty fleet transitionAnalyzes fleet data and collaborates with depot managers to suggest cost-effective charging solutionsDevelops a multi-year fleet charging deployment plan that includes charging type, budget, quantity and locationProject manages the design, procurement and installation of chargers while identifying maintenance and operational needsMonitors changes in vehicle design and research policies/best practices of other municipalities and ensures operational standards are met while completing the transitionSupports educational campaigns and workshops to raise awareness and promote the benefits of electric vehicle ownershipDevelops partnerships with utility and private sector to encourage further charging deploymentSupport other clean energy initiatives like our emissions inventory, building energy retrofits, solar and wind policy and programmingIdentifies and advances opportunities to improve understanding and awareness of clean energy with staff, Council and members of the publicResearches funding streams and develops capital and operational budgetsLiaises and communicates with environment-related stakeholders and groups, HRM Boards, Committees, Community Councils and Regional CouncilAssists in the preparation of Regional Council Reports and other public documents. QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Experience:University Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or a related degree program;An applied environment, science, or engineering degree may also be considered;A minimum of four (4) years' experience in directly related environmental science and/or engineering.Technical/Job Specific Knowledge and Abilities:Knowledge of environmental sustainability and environmental performance measurement.Knowledge of provincial and federal environmental regulations and acts.Knowledge of municipal acts, by-laws, policies and procedures.Knowledge of climate change mitigation and adaptation science, issues, programs and plans.Demonstrated project management skills.Knowledge and experience in the public administration of clean energy programs and p
