*Position Summary:*
The Part-Time Human Resources Generalist will play a crucial role in supporting our steel fabrication team by handling HR functions tailored to skilled trades. This includes recruitment, employee relations, compliance, and administrative support, with a strong emphasis on understanding the unique needs of tradespeople in a manufacturing environment. Additionally, this role will focus on building relationships with trade schools and community colleges to develop future skilled trades talent.
*Key Responsibilities:*
* *Recruitment & Onboarding:*
* Post job openings and screen resumes specifically for skilled trades positions such as welders, machinists, and fabricators.
* Schedule and conduct interviews, ensuring alignment with the technical and experience requirements of the trades.
* Facilitate a thorough onboarding process for new hires, including safety training and introduction to company protocols.
* *Employee Relations:*
* Address inquiries and resolve issues related to HR policies, benefits, and workplace conditions, with an emphasis on the needs of tradespeople.
* Support initiatives to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction within the skilled trades workforce.
* Handle conflict resolution and disciplinary actions in accordance with company policies and labor regulations.
* *Compliance & Documentation:*
* Ensure HR practices comply with federal, state, and local regulations relevant to manufacturing and skilled trades.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including certifications, licenses, and training documentation.
* *Benefits Administration:*
* Assist with benefits enrollment, claims processing, and addressing inquiries related to health, safety, and retirement plans, tailored to the needs of trades employees.
* *Training & Development:*
* Coordinate and track training sessions relevant to the steel fabrication industry, including safety, technical skills, and professional development.
* Identify and address training needs specific to skilled trades to ensure compliance and skill enhancement.
* *Administrative Support:*
* Prepare HR-related reports, such as workforce analysis and turnover rates, with insights into the skilled trades sector.
* Assist with various administrative tasks, including managing HRIS data and preparing documentation for audits.
* *Community Engagement & Talent Development:*
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with trade schools and community colleges to foster a pipeline of future skilled trades talent.
* Collaborate with educational institutions to create internship and apprenticeship programs, ensuring a steady flow of qualified candidates into the workforce.
* Participate in career fairs, workshops, and other outreach activities to promote careers in steel fabrication and skilled trades.
*Qualifications:*
* *Education:* Post secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
* *Experience:* Minimum of 3 years of HR experience, with a focus on recruitment and management of skilled trades in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
* *Skills:* Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems. Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
