Waypoints is a registered, non-profit charity that has been operating in Fort McMurray since 1982. Waypoints offers facilities, programs and services for people that have experienced, or are experiencing domestic violence and/or abuse, or sexual assault and/or abuse. Waypoints also provides the community with public awareness events, initiatives and educational programs to increase the prevention of violence and abuse in the Wood Buffalo Region. Waypoints operates Unity House (an Emergency Women and Children's Shelter), the Opportunities for Change Centre, the Sexual Assault and Abuse Healing Centre, the CARE Centre (a Child and Youth Advocacy Centre) and The Compass, home of our Second Stage Shelter for women and children in need of transitional housing, as well as affordable housing.
We are currently seeking a full-time Sexual Trauma Supports & Services (STSS) Manager. Reporting directly to the Director of Programs. The STSS Manager will Provide comprehensive programs and services for survivors of sexual assault and abuse, including crisis intervention, information, referral, counselling, and advocacy within the medical and criminal justice systems. The STSS Manager will also provide sexual assault and abuse safety and awareness training for all ages, and community awareness events. The program has two locations: the Sexual Trauma Healing Centre (120 Prospect Drive) and the CARE Centre (9917 Fraser Avenue).
*Duties and Responsibilities*:
* Plan, develop, implement, and supervise the quality delivery of Sexual Trauma Support Services and events, including a 24-7 Sexual Assault Crisis Line.
* Oversees a full spectrum of services including, but not limited to crisis intervention, counselling and support services, public education, outreach, awareness initiatives and training throughout the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.
* Supervise 11 full-time employees, including hiring, job performance reviews, recognition, discipline, and terminations as necessary.
* Act as the program?s liaison with various local and provincial organizations and representing the program to the media and community at large.
* Fill in for STSS staff and providing direct client services as necessary (filling in for staff when they have a wellness day or vacation day).
* Complete grant applications, contract agreements and reports to funders.
* The STSS Manager is the designated representative for Waypoints as a member of the Alberta Association for Sexual Assault Services (AASAS).
* Continuously address the need for improvement in the provision of quality care in a cost effective and efficient manner.
*Specific Skills:*
* Ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, colleagues and community partners.
* Strong organizational, research skills and leadership skills.
* Comprehensive knowledge of the topic of Sexual Trauma with trauma-informed service delivery.
* Strong interpersonal, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
* Knowledge of community resources, ability to network and coordinate with other community organizations.
* Strong Microsoft Office, and internet skills.
* Understanding of client confidentiality and data security.
* Operates from a feminist, anti-oppressive framework.
* At ease working in a small structure start-up type organization, where tasks and responsibilities may be flexible at times.
* Cultural competency, with an understanding and appreciation for our diverse community.
* High level of autonomy at work, yet with profound team-spirit.
* Adaptive, patient, resilient, pro-active, solution-oriented pay high attention to detail and accuracy.
*Qualification:*
* Master?s degree in social work or counselling preferred.
* Minimum 5 years social work experience.
* Minimum 3 years supervisory experience.
* Demonstrated experience in counselling and community outreach.
* Demonstrated experience in crisis intervention and advocacy.
* Familiarity with trauma-informed care and trauma-specific services.
