Job details
We are looking to hire more than one person to join our team at the Chris Rose Therapy Centre for Autism working with adults with autism spectrum disorder.
The persons we serve have tailor-made programs geared toward their individuals goals and strengths, and our staff works with them toward achieving his goals, while keeping in mind their individual personal care plans and behaviour plans. Swim therapy a very important part of the program, as our staff is in the water with the individuals they work with.
*This is not a desk job.* You will work directly with individuals and take part in their activities with them.
These are part time positions that are based around the schedule of the individuals we work with. You will have the opportunity to work relief shifts if available, but there is no guarantee. We are a community inclusion program not a residential program so we do not have weekend or night shifts available.
Benefits and pay range:
* The position starts at $24.34. The wage scale will be discussed in the interview. The wage will increase upon completion of the probationary period.
* Benefits are available to staff who regularly work a schedule of 24 or more hours a week upon successful completion of the probation period.
* There are reimbursements for mileage, difference of insurance, and petty cash transactions. Exact details will be discussed in the interview.
Responsibilities and Duties:
* To work in a one-to-one setting with an autistic adult with an individual goal plan and take an active role in their activities.
* To at all times preserve the confidentiality of the person in the program.
* To transport yourself and the person you work with in your vehicle to their activities.
Requirements and Qualifications:
* Preference will be given to individuals who have worked with autistic adults.
* Must be able to pass a Criminal Records Check (vulnerable sector).
* Valid First Aid
* 19 years or older.
* Valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle to transport yourself.
* Vaccinated for COVID-19 (this is a condition of Community Living British Columbia)

Pay: From $24.34 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 20 per week

* This position will involve swimming with the person you are assisting. Are you comfortable in the water?
* This is a community inclusion job which requires you to transport yourself and the person you are working with to and from activities that cannot be done by public transport. What type of vehicle do you drive?
* Our workplace as a therapy dog on site, the individuals we work with may have service animals, and you will encounter dogs out in the community while with your person. Are you comfortable around dogs?
* The exact shifts for this position will vary, but they will all be during the standard work week. What hours are you available throughout the week?
Licence/Certification:
* First Aid (Emergency Community Care or equivalent) (preferred)

* COVID-19 vaccination (required by CLBC) (required)
